About Leslie Flowers

For more than a decade, I have motivated people to be their healthiest, most vibrant, authentic, and successful selves.

A graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, I later trained at Duke University Center for Integrative Medicine and am nationally board certified as a health and well-being coach through the National Board of Medical Examiners.

Recognizing that stress plays a key role in disease, I also became a qualified teacher of mindfulness-based stress reduction at Brown University’s Mindfulness Center. I teach tools and practices that turn on the relaxation response to reduce anxiety, stress, and the negative impacts of stress-induced inflammation on body and emotions.

Outside of coaching and teaching, I love to hike, bike, cook for family and friends,  practice yoga and meditation, and explore mountain ranges. Read more in my back story below.

Additional Certifications:

  • Mental Health First Aid

  • Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Trainer

  • Faculty Mind-Body Skills Facilitator

Back Story

The Back Story

In 2013, I made a major career change after my beloved mother died of lung cancer. I trained at the mothership of coaching – Duke University Center for Integrative Medicine – to become a certified health and well-being coach so that I could support people in living their healthiest, most vibrant lives.

I came to health and well-being coaching through my 25-year career as a health care journalist and public relations professional. A graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, my favorite part of writing has always been the interview. I revel in people's stories – how they got where they are, their triumphs, life lessons, and awakenings. As a coach, I still get to hear my clients' stories; however, we partner together to make meaningful shifts to improve their health and well-being in all dimensions so they may live with passion and purpose.

The foundation of my Duke training was mindfulness. Meditation and yoga have benefitted my own life profoundly, so I pursued additional training to teach science-based mindfulness-based stress reduction tools through Dr. Jon Kabat Zinn's teacher training program at Brown University.
